Wait for Dark by Scott Frost Review.

This was a very fast paced read from the very beginning, as soon as you start reading hang on for dear life as you watch the hunt for a killer. There was no time to relax on your laurels with this story as the imagination of the killer kept up my interest from the beginning and the method of murder was unusual. The lead character Lieutenant Alex Delillo is very strong ,tough and brave whether she is up against a criminal or her own personal problems. It makes her a character you really want to get behind, you really want her to nail the bad guys. When the killer has shown his interest in her it really makes the story even more thrilling because we just don't know the entire way through if he is going to get close enough to her to do her real harm. I really enjoyed this book and will definitely pick up another from this author again.
If you enjoy thrillers you will enjoy this!

Rosie Hopkin's Sweet Shop of Dreams by Jenny Colgan Review

I have been a fan of Jenny's for many years and just when you think her books can't get any better they do!!!!! I adore this cute cover , it was in fact what first drew me to the book before I realised it was by this author. If you are in the mood for a cute and cozy read then def pick this up!
This charming story is about two women, Rosie and her elderly aunt Lilian. Throughout the story we get glimpses of Lilian's life though a kind of diary form and this lady had quite the life!Rosie on the other hand feels a little stuck in her life ,a change would do her the world of good. When she hears that Lilian is need of help  Rosie makes the journey to stay and help her for  a while and try and sort our her aunt's sweetshop . This decision will prove to be a very good one !
This was very enjoyable and I recommend it to anyone who likes a cosy read and is fond of sweeties. (I dare you to try and read this without a bag of old fashioned sweets.......roll out the rhubarb and custards I say!!!!!).

Le Bal by Irene Nemirovsky Review

This  was the first book I had ever read by this author and I have to say I did enjoy it!
This novella has two different stories between it's covers. The first story" Le Bal" is about a very young woman of 14 who decides to get her own back on her mother in a spectacular fashion. It was  an excellent short story that left me feeling slightly uncomfortable at the end ,I was also relieved the character of Antoinette was fictional.
The second story is called "Snow in Autumn", a sad story about a servant who follows her masters to Paris where life is almost as hard as the war torn country that they had just fled. The descriptions of the areas they were in, and Autumn were beautiful in this very short story.

Haul!!!!!! A real mixed bag of new and pre-loved

Check out the Goodies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First up Cecelia Ahern's book One Hundred Names.... I really enjoy this author's writing style,I'm sure this book will be just as good as her previous books.Very pretty cover!!
Mapp and Lucia I love you!!! Caustic, witty and often shocking..what's not to love!!!

These two books by Margaret Powell are non fiction, these sound like the perfect read for those who may have enjoyed Upstairs Downstairs and Downton Abbey.

The Wonderful Kate Shackleton Mystery series by Frances Brody. I can't wait to read these books. I adore these covers. Well done to whoever had the final word on picking these!!

Can you tell I like mystery book? Nicola Upson writes about mystery and murder in 1930's London and Halloway prison.... Can't wait to see what that's all about!!
More Mystery yay!!! This time the dropping down dead of the Burry Man!!!!!
Revenge and greed are some of the main themes in the above book. This is an author I have followed for years. Veronica writes characters that you really care for !! You can't go wrong with any of her books if you are in the mood to read about the ups and downs of relationships.
Dodie Smith-The New Moon with the Old.
Another great cover! Love Dodie so can't wait to set some time aside to read this.

Major Benjy by Guy-Fraser-Sampson

I am a huge fan of the Mapp and Lucia series so I was thrilled to be going back to the village of Tilling in this book where most of our favourite residents are included. Like the entire series you can expect hilarious situations ,bitchy remarks and conniving behaviour, and in this book the odd mystery too thrown in that is sure to have you chuckling away to yourself as relief washes over you that you don't have friends like these. This is a book not to be missed esp if you want to see what lengths Mapp will go to to remain top of every situation and conversation.

This book is due for release mid March as far as I know, but if you would like to find out more about this comical story filled with caustic remarks  then check it out here where you can get a free excerpt too Yay!! :

Fisher Of Men by Pam Rhodes Review

The village of Dunbridge is getting a new Reverend , and the Reverend is about to get more friends and people to care for then I dare say he ever dreamed possible. This first book in this new Dunbridge Chronicles series has got me very excited. The lives of the people in the town are intriguing and often comical ,you have every walk of life, and village problem that you would expect from a small village, and we get to get a birds eye view of it all which makes it very moreish. The new Reverend may start out a little shaky on his feet in this new parish but the friendships he makes and the lives he touches will bring the community closer. This was a charming and touching story that I did not want to end . I finished the last page wishing the next book in the series was already released .I can't wait for book 2!!
I received this ARC from the kind folks at Lovereading.co.uk but if you would like to know more about it then check it out below on the link where you can get a free excerpt of the book.
This book is being released in April in paperback.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman

Reading this book was what I always imagined someone being in a coma would be going through and seeing. This author has the most awesome, fantastic imagination that will surprise you and take you to places you never dreamed possible while making it seem like it could very well happen.
I have not read much by this author but this book was sooooooo incredibly gripping that it def will not be the last book I pick up of Neil's to read. I can see why he gets so much praise for his books when he can completely take you out of your own life and head and into his when you read his books. You do have to concentrate a bit or hold on blindly while reading this as it is a bit like being in a  wonderful dream...a dream you had after you had been staying up for a week drinking booze ,partying then passing out on your face on the tile floor in the bathroom with the grout marks lining your face......I'm guessing... no really!!

The book is about a man called shadow who is about to be released from prison, and can't wait to get back to his wife where we would be very happy to have a nice boring life from now on, but life does not always go as we would like and that is even more so the case for Shadow when he finds out his wife has died. As he is going home to her burial he meets a man that is about to scare the life out of him while taking him on  a whirlwind adventure that Shadow will never have experienced before. If you have not read this then don't leave it as long as I did to read it. You won't regret it.

Kiss Heaven Goodbye by Tasmina Perry

The lives of a group of young friends over twenty years  has been incredibly well put together in this 662 page book. If you want  a book you can submerge yourself in then you are going to love this. The story starts with a tragedy that is going to effect all their lives in the future. The book then continues giving us glimpses of each of their lives through the years until we get to present day.
I started this book this morning and did not want to put it down. The books main themes are friendship, relationships and the ups and downs of life, and what lives they did lead!! not all of them  angelic , in fact a lot of their bad behaviour made for really juicy reading. All the glamour, money, affairs, and  trying to succeed in business make this a delicious escapist read with a very surprising and  satisfactory ending.
Now if I only had my own sandy beach on an island to read all this author's other books :0)

Reading this week

Hi guys, this is what I am reading this week. Have you any books already planned to read this week?

River of Destiny by Barbara Erskine

In this gripping tale, the past and the present run side by side near the banks of the River Deben in Suffolk. The story is told in the present by the current residents of the converted barns by the river and in the past by previous people who lived in that area. This is an awesome story!!! There is a real eerie feeling to the story which leaves you completely unable to put it down. I was reading it on my own in the house and it gave me chills. The past and the present have a lot in common and that becomes more and more obvious the further the story goes on. I was blown away by how well the stories came together giving a very satisfying ending. I wish this book was bigger as I hated to close the last page.
This book was published last year I believe in hardback but was published this month in paperback.
I received this from Lovereading.co.uk to review, but you can download a free excerpt here:
