A Fortnight In September by R C Sherriff. Review

This is the delightful tale of one family and their annual trip to the seaside . The family consists of the parents and two sons and a daughter , the mother is a housewife , a nervous woman who wants to see her family happy no matter the cost to herself , two of the children are almost grown up and looking for independence and then there is the younger brother too . This is not a book of high adventure , what makes this book so moreish is the  little details of this family’s life , from their own thoughts to their daily rigmarole, it makes remarkably addictive reading and although like  I said  there is not much that happens you do genuinely care for each of the characters and want to know more about them . The author is exceptional at showing you the characters , flaws and all , in a special way , tiny details showing us a lot more about them overall then we first think . The plot is a simple one and the pace is gentle so it makes for a lovely Sunday afternoon read , but it will stay with you long after you finish the last page . Beautiful .
