Some Places More Than Others by Renée Watson . Review

This was a delightful story about a girl called Amara . Amara has a loving family and a baby sister on the way but her life does not feel complete as there is a big gap in her life where her fathers side of the family should be  . When one summer she begs to be given the chance to go to New York in her school holidays and meet her fathers side of the family , her wish comes true , during the duration of the book we find out if she gets all she hoped for , to finally feel whole in her life . I truly loved the story , Amara is a down to earth girl with a lot of love to give and reading about her connecting with her new family members, (the good and the bad bits ) was heartwarming and it brought a lump to the back of the throat. I particularly loved the setting and Amara’s grandfather , he was such a sweet man and I really enjoyed the parts of the story with him in it . The story talks a lot about fitting in , relationships , family connections and love ,  I thought it was written very well . This was a joy to read . I am very excited about what this writer will write next .

The Postcard by Zoë Folbigg . Review / Blog Tour

The story is about two friends , Maya who writes for magazines and loves to travel and her long time pal Nena who is a new mother and struggling with the huge changes that a baby has brought into her life . Maya is off on an adventure of her own traveling all around the world with her boyfriend , they are learning more about each other as they go and Maya is contributing to a weekly column about her adventures where we see what is happening . My heart went out to Nena , she was really struggling , self doubt and fear holding her back from enjoying the new experiences she was having , I was rooting for her from the start and loved how her storyline played out .

Maya and James were interesting characters , they were skirting around grown up issues when at home  , it took this trip to foreign lands to find out what , and who , they really wanted , and left them with no doubts whatsoever . A delightful story !

I received this book in exchange for an honest review .

Best Friends Forever by Dawn Goodwin . Review / Blog Tour

This is a twisted story about two women who have been friends since they were children . Their friendship is toxic , and it also infects those people who come close to either of them . As toxic as it is they have a sick type of close bond holding them together ,secrets and loosely veiled threats are the backbone of their relationship and from early on you can tell no good will come of it . The story gets darker as it goes on and becomes completely irresistible, forget about doing anything else once you start this book ! I would recommend this for anyone who likes a thriller / mystery story , it had plenty of twists and turns and keeps you guessing . Highly recommend !

I received this book in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.

White Shark by Peter Benchley . Review

Jaws was the first book by Peter Benchley that got me interested in books about sharks and as the summer time has come round again I could not resist reading about some more danger in the water by this excellent author . The book did not disappoint even though I was not sure where the plot was going for the longest time and what exactly was the danger that was lurking beneath the surface of the water , the book did not give up all its secrets early on , it keeps you guessing . Luckily all questions were answered in the end , the glorious sense of unease traveled through the story like a shark fin through the water , seemingly effortless but leaving you with chills . Although I preferred Jaws this was an enjoyable book and I would recommend it to all fans of mysterious stories about what lurks under the water ......

Possibly right beside you ;0)

This delightful autobiography from comedian and all round lovely person Sarah takes us through her life from a very young child in South Shields up to present day , through the school years , work , relationships , furbabies and family . Like everyone , Sarah has had her ups and downs , but she got through them and made the world a brighter happier place as she did it . The Perfect Lie by Karen Osman. Review / Blog Tour

The story is about a woman called Claire , Claire is a very successful lawyer with a partnership in her firm , she also has a happy family and a loving husband . Everything seems picture perfect until one day when she gets a call about her son . This was a fascinating story that went back in forth in time , in the past we see a teenage Claire and what she was like then as a young girl at school with a boyfriend  and present day the driven woman she became .

The story was often disturbing , Claire is a terrifying woman in a lot of ways and as the story progresses we learn more about her , the plot does not give away all its secrets at once so I became engrossed in it and read it all in one go . It was very good , definitely a story to keep you up reading at night .

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for a review .

The Time Of Our Lives by Abby Williams. Review / Blog Tour

The story is set in England and centers around two women , Erin and Lydia . Lydia is an older lady who has very recently become a widow and has found every aspect of her life turned upside down . Erin has been hurt and deceived in the most deplorable ways by those that claimed to love her the most , both these women now have to take a hard look at their lives and make huge changes that take them on the most delightful journeys.

I love how these two women interacted together each one adding something to the others life at a time it was most needed .

The story was a complete joy to read  , Erin and Lydia are very likable characters , Lydia has an air of mischievousness about her which makes her even lovelier , I could not help smirking while reading about her . My heart went out to Erin , she really did get her heart well and truly trampled on but it did not take away the goodness and kindness in her . Reading about these two inspirational women was an uplifting heartwarming experience.

I received this book in exchange for a review.

The Women Of Mulberry Lane by Rosie Clarke . Blog Tour /Review

This is book five in this charming series set in England during war time featuring all the lovely characters I have come to know and love . You do not need to have read the previous books to enjoy this book as you do get some back history for the characters . In this story the ladies of Mulberry Lane are showing great strength during trying times , the war is nearing its end and there is an optimism on the Lane that the war and hardships did not defeat . Rose has had her life turned upside down and really needs her friends around her now on the new direction her life has taken , this is exciting but tinged with a little sorrow . It was great reading about Peggy again , she also has new exciting opportunities on the horizon in her own life , a fresh start ahead with those she loves that is very enjoyable to read about .Peggy is one of my favorite characters , a warm mother figure to all who oozes kindness and generosity .

This is such an enjoyable series and this book is a heartwarming addition to it . Go read this immediately.
