While My Pretty One Knits by Anne Canadeo. Review

Set in the small town of Plum Harbor , Massachusetts this is a story set around a yearn shop and its knitting group , The Black Sheep Knitters . The group made up of  Maggie( yarn shop owner)  , Lucy , Phoebe , Suzanne and Dana . Each woman unique and bringing a different quality to the group . When a murder occurs during the special visitor night at the shop it’s not long until fingers get pointed towards the yearn shop . I loved these characters and the setting , the plot was fun and kept me guessing and the end was very enjoyable . I will definitely keep reading this series , it’s fabulous and if you love a feel good mystery with a knitting theme then this is the book for you .

I have been a reader all my life and what’s even more enjoyable about reading is the foods beloved characters come across n the stories . If you too enjoy this , OH how you will love this book . The author takes us on a delectable trip through her bookshelves and kitchen as she cooks up familiar and not so familiar dishes and drinks covering just about every time of day or night ..... midnight feast anyone ??????

With a foodie bookish quote at the beginning of each recipe and a chat from the author underneath it is a loving combination of book love and foodie love which both together blend into something heavenly . Go read this book lovers !

Jane Of Lantern Hill by L. M Montgomery. Review

I am a huge fan of the Anne Of Green Gables series and I have not read anything else by the author( I know ! I should really get on to that )  , I don’t know why it has taken me so long to get round to reading this book as it has been on my radar for a long time . I wish I had not left it as long .....let’s talk !

The story is about a young girl called Jane who lives with her beautiful mother and pernickety grandmother who she does not really like , her grandmother is a hard woman to live with who enjoys finding the faults in everyone and everything much to the disappointment of those around her . The three of them live in a big house in Toronto severely lacking any kind of warmth  . Jane’s father she believed was dead until one day she finds out different when she gets an invite to Prince Edward Island to stay with him for the summer and get to know him much to the surprise of everyone !

This was such a dreamy book of hopes and dreams , beautiful settings , with rich characters and a very memorable plot .

If you have been a fan of Anne Of Green Gables then don’t hesitate to pick this up , it was lovely being back on Prince Edward Island again with another smart , funny young lady . Sigh .... I loved it !

The Self Care Project by Jayne Hardy . Review

I have spent quite a bit of time in the last year and a half learning about meditation , yoga , self care and taking care of my general well-being after brutal panic attacks and anxiety that hit spring time last year  . That being said I was determined that I would try and never let things go that far where they reach that strength again and perhaps it was a blessing as it helped me realize what I needed to take care of myself .
So , I have been reading so much about all this and talking to people and this is one of the books I came across . This is filled with helpful information and is almost like a workbook in parts giving prompts for you to learn about yourself and how to help yourself .
There is helpful addresses and various social media info where other sources of help are mentioned as well as how the author came to be on this path herself .
An easy to real and follow book with lots of good insights . I recommend this for your health bookshelf .

The Lido by Libby Page

This was one of the loveliest feel good stories of the year so far , ticking every box for all I look for in a book . The story is set in Brixton in London at the local community Lido ( outdoor swimming pool) and centers around two main characters called Kate and Rosemary . Kate is a twenty something journalist who is frustrated with her job and her success so far , lonely and in need of a purpose in life . Rosemary is an elderly widow who deeply misses the love of her life , her husband George , and who is deeply connected to the Lido . When the Lido is threatened with closure it is up to these two women and all their friends to get together to keep this much needed place open for al their sakes .

These characters and the community that was created in the story was beautiful , I could not get enough of it all . The setting of a peaceful oasis in London where everyone was equal and friendships were made was a delight and the back story of Rosemary and George was a beautiful tearjerker . Simply , a heartwarming story that I would recommend to all . It will pull at your heartstrings for all the right reasons.

Nobody Real by Steven Camden. Review

The main characters of the Story are Marcie , a young woman who is struggling with things going on in her life especially the prospect of the future , then there is Thor , her imaginary friend from childhood who is now back to seemingly comfort her , he has the body of a male with the arms of a bear which I think Marcie created in her mind for to be even more comforting .

The story is imaginative and sweet and covers topics like loss and mental health while also giving hope . A sweet read .
