Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. Review

When I started this book I was optimistic that I was going to enjoy the story , the blurb had me instantly interested and I was keen to see what all the fuss was about as I had seen this book pop up on so many of my news feeds . This book did not disappoint . The story sets off in the present tense and as the story goes on we get to see parts of the characters past , and juicy it is ! These characters , especially the females are fascinating to read about , their highs and lows make for this book to be very hard to put down so I didn’t and instead read it in one go . My favorite characters were Mia for her strength and gumption , Izzy for her independence and strong will and Pearl for her loyalty and compassion. The story was rich with details and we see the the good and bad sides of the human nature , the weaknesses and what determination can do in the right and wrong hands . If you are looking for a book to completely immerse yourself in then look no further then this one , it’s a rare gem .

Scone Cold Dead by Karen MacInerney . Review

It was terrific being back again reading about the beautiful Cranberry Island and the fabulous Natalie and the folks in the Grey Whale Inn. It’s summertime on the island and they are fortunate enough to have an enthusiastic art teacher giving classes to the Cranberry Island masses and it’s not the only thing turning heads as there has been some devilment going on on the island too with someone damaging boats of the locals ... The island locals become even more uneasy when a body of a young woman turns up !

I loved this story and all the twists and turns to find out what sneaky business was going on on the island and who is to blame . This was a fun read and I loved every page . I read this in one sitting , it’s a brilliant addition to this series . More please!

The Girl In The Pink Raincoat by Alrene Hughes. Review & Blog Tour .

This charming story is set in the 1930’s in Manchester and is centered around main character Gracie . Gracie is a likable young woman with admirable traits and a big heart , she lives at home with her mum and she works in the local factory . As Gracie is so likable she draws the attention of some men , some of the attention is happily received but some of the attention is more distressing and that’s when her own strength and gumption serve her well . I really enjoyed this story of the ups and downs of a young woman during war time , trying to manage her job and place in the world with young love and the darker sides of life , her family and plans for the future . I especially enjoyed the parts of the plot with Gracie and her mother , it was interesting and heartwarming , I found myself galloping through the last 50 pages so I could find out if everyone would make it through in one piece through all the bombing . A very enjoyable read . I would recommend to all fans of war time fiction.

Born Bad by Heather Burnside Blog Tour and Review.

This story is based around two siblings,  Peter and Adele . They are being brought up in a very violent household where domestic abuse is an almost daily occurrence and this impacts their lives greatly , mentally and physically . This book was hard to put down for the simple reason that I had to find out if they were ever going to survive to get out of there and make something of themselves. My favorite characters changed throughout the duration of reading this and my heart went out to some other characters , it was a gut wrenching read . This is a read in one day type of book .

The Bells Of Little Woodford by Catherine Jones Review and Blog Tour

This is the story of a little village called Little Woodford , it’s a quaint place where everyone knows their neighbors and even more so the gossip about them, adding to the charm of the story . 

The story is told from a lot of the villagers perspectives but primarily from Bex’s point of view , Bex is a much loved resident , a widow and mother . I instantly loved her . In the story we have a whole host of interesting characters with colorful lives and traits . It’s safe to say life here is anything but boring and it becomes even less so with the arrival of new resident Miranda ( ice queen) and her adoring husband Roderick . 

Miranda is an incredible nightmare of a new resident and does not give a hoot if anyone likes her or what she stands for , she is very opinionated and those opinions differ wildly from her neighbors adding to many tongue in cheek moments while reading this . . Now every story needs a villain and she most definitely wins this role hands down , she is insufferable and thrives upon disapproval . 

If you had. It guessed already I loved this , from the setting of the story all the way to the end this was a delicious read , a truly heartwarming story . Read and enjoy !

Hi there lovelies .. the blog tour for this fantastic book has made its way to my small part of the internet today . Welcome and enjoy :0) 

I thoroughly enjoyed this story about a young woman reaching great success flying during war times with the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force , she has real gumption and I loved the camaraderie between Ellie and her work mates . Ellie’s love life is having less success and I had a few moments where I had a lump in my throat reading parts of it . The story had quite a few surprises in it , I really did not see some things coming and it made the story all the better but I would recommend keeping the tissues handy . I loved every page of this and finished it within the day . You will think of these characters long after the last page.
