Murder of a Needled Knitter by Denise Swanson. Review.

Murder of a Needled Knitter is book 17 in the Scumble river mystery series. In this book Skye and Wally are on their honeymoon cruise at long last. I have never wanted characters to get together so much as I have been following these guys stories for a while .Now they are finally Mr and Mrs and enjoying married life and their cruise ,lapping up all the romance and food while on board ,but things start to look a bit stormy at sea when a few familiar faces start showing up and a diva who likes to cause trouble with her caustic tongue appears with a bad attitude and picks the wrong person to mess with! This book is going up there with my top books of this series I loved it! Mystery, romance, wit and a new location..... Bliss! If you love cozy Mysteries then check this out, you will love it!

The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan . Review.

The Lost Hero is book 1 in the Heroes of Olympus series. The story begins when the main character Jason wakes on a bus and does not know who he is, where he is or what's happening. Fortunately for him his two friends Piper and Leo do know him .
Not long after the story starts these three teens find themselves in the midst of a huge adventure when on a class trip, this is the beginning of an adrenaline packed adventure combining modern day heros with Greek mythology , monsters and demigods. Those of you who learned about the Greek gods and goddesses at school will be familiar with a lot of the characters mentioned and there is a handy guide to them all at the end of the book.
I love the three main characters but Leo was my favourite character, he is quick with the one liners and is someone who you would want to be friends with. He is genuine and REALLY smart and fiercely loyal.
If you have previously read Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief then I think you will really enjoy this but it's not essential to have read Rick's previous series. The ending of this book is very exciting and surprising !!!!!!!! I can't wait to find out what happens next !

I received this book for review from the lovely people over at Lovereading.co.uk for review.

Reading In Autumn

This week I am reading and listening to a real mixed bag of goodies. I always have a few books on the go , usually each one is very different so that makes it easier to not forget characters and story lines. When the weather is cold I like to wrap up warm and get out walking in the evening with someone then come back and get some hot soup and pull a book down from my book shelves. Below are the books I am going to be reading this week while tucked up with a blanket on the couch with some scented candles burning.

The book I am finishing up this week is Death by Cashmere by Sally Goldenbaum. A Seaside Knitters mystery series.

I am starting The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters. I am really nervous about this book as I have seen mixed reviews. I do like Sarah's writing style so I am hopeful.

I am reading Murder of a Needled Knitter by Denise Swanson. This is a new release. Love this series!

Finishing off The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan. Really enjoying this!

Adoring The Darcy's of Pemberley by Shannon Winslow... I can't get enough Jane Austen lately and this is really just what I needed. Completely recommend this and I am only a quarter of the way through.

The Woman Who Stole My Life by Marian Keyes. Review

This is the story of Stella. Stella is an ordinary wife and mother then one day her entire life changed for the worst when out of the blue she got a very rare disease . One of the main symtoms is that the patient cannot communicate at all so she is stuck in her own body unable to move or speak.
Having no way to communicate with the outside world we see a good bit of the book through Stella's thoughts , what she was thinking and how she was coping internally . The outside world is somewhere she dreams of being again but not everyone out there is whom they seem to be.
One of the shining lights in this dark time of her life was her doctor ,through him she manages to communicate enough to feel less alone and this is where her healing begins , she is very inspirational  but someone might like to steal her new life.
This was a thought provoking read that really made me appreciate the small everyday things we can do , and take for granted. Stella is a very strong character who is trying to juggle many things at once and it is not always possible to keep everything balanced in her life but she has some awesome people in her life supporting her .If you enjoy a story about new beginnings, witty laugh out loud moments , and characters you will care about then definitely pick this up you will not regret it.
P.s I loved Stella's father, he was a very funny and a likeable character even if his reading tastes were a little off the wall.

I received this book for review from the lovely people over at Lovereading.co.uk.

No Safe House by Linwood Barclay. Review

When I started this book I only intended reading a few chapters.... Many hours later I finished it. Yes it is that good! This book is the sequel to No Time For Goodbye which was published in 2008 , in this book our favourite characters are back! Jane, Vince, Terry ,Grace and Cynthia ...although years have passed since they last met , a frightening night will see them all come back into each other's lives again. This book was just like its previous book in that you just cannot put it down , I was completely oblivious to the world around me when I was reading this and that is a sign of a great book, the mystery and suspense were awesome, the story was smart, tense , a bit grizzly and irresistible . Read this if you want a story that will hold your attention and leave you wanting more .

I received this book for review from the kind folks over at Lovereading.co.uk

Mr Collins's Last Supper by Shannon Winslow. Review

This was a delightful short story about the horrible gentleman we know as Mr Collins. We were first introduced to his character in Pride and Prejudice and Shannon has written a very satisfying story about this less then favourable character that Charlotte Lucas married. Mr Collins is a horror ! A sneaky ,creepy ,slimey character with not one redeeming feature. Personally I think Charlotte was coming down with something when she agreed to be Mrs Collins,  her life is a tough one with this childish man who most of us love to hate. I don't want to give anything away but I will say this book was a very satisfying story with a real feel good ending ! ;)
