The Cozy Life by Pia Edberg . Review

This is a quick read , 140 pages ,on the Danish way of life called Hygge. Pia tells her own story briefly about how she came across Hygge as well as telling us how she incorporates it into her life and how we can too. There is helpful recipes , and blank spaces to make some relevant notes . This would be a perfect book to read with your feet up and a hot drink or just before bed to help unwind . Pia's writing feels more like a conversation with a friend and I like that quality in a writer . This would make a lovely gift for a book friend  . 

Reading This Weekend

Hi guys ! I hope you have all had a lovely week. I picked up some fab books at the library this week to read . I am so excited by these !Two cozy mysteries and some fiction . Then I got myself some non fiction audible and hardback books about Hygge and the Danish people. I am seeing Hyyge mentioned a lot recently so I was keen to learn more especially after reading The Little Book Of Hygge recently which I really enjoyed.

The Year Of Living Danishly by Helen Russell

When Helen Russell and her husband "Lego man "get the oppertunity to leave Cosmopolitan London for a year to go to Denmark they take it! After much apprehension they begin to ease into life there where things are very very different! 

Just about everything is different from life back home in England ,but it's a really good thing in plenty of ways . Helen tells us about the educational system, work environment, child rearing and the social life of the Danish and for the most part Denmark seems like an absolute dream destination .The Danish people are supposed to be the happiest people in the world and it quickly becomes clear why that is .  I listened to the audio of the book and I thoroughly enjoyed it! After reading quite a few books recently about Hygge this was an ideal read after them .

I highly recommend this fun enlightening  book for anyone with wanderlust or a love of non fiction . Now I am off to find more reading material by this author!    

Mini Book Haul

I was very restrained and only got two books. I was in and out quickly , any longer and I would have bought the entire book sale table . Well library sales are full of cheap gems of the bookish type !

Journey To Munich by Jacqueline Winspear. Review

When you are asked by your country to help out in retrieving a very important person there is not much you can do but comply and that's exactly what heroine Maisie Dobbs does in this , book 12 in the Maisie Dobbs Series . 

Maisie has recently been through much turmoil and heartbreak and so this might be just what she needs to help get her mind off of it . 

This is one of the more nerve wrecking books in this series which sees Maisie in Germany at a very uneasy time in history. 

While there her mission is tense and the situation uncomfortable but Maisie has a firm head on her shoulders and so we see her at her best . I really enjoyed this book and it's a must read for every fan of this series .

Revival by Stephen King. Review

I have been reading lots of Stephen King books recently , when it has been a while since you read a book by him you forget just how good a storyteller he is only to be blown away when you start another book by him . This book is exactly what you would hope from a book by King ... Bloody excellent !

The story begins with a young boy called Jamie meeting the new minister Charles Jacobs for the first time outside his home. Through the years and in many different places they would come across each other again , them and their relationship slightly altered each time. 

Both of the main characters change a lot through the duration of the story. Life really kicked both of their asses and both of them reacted differently but were altered quite a lot by their hardships. The story did leave me thinking about people and the things that happen to them , would we be different people if only things in our life had not turned out the way it did or if we did not have relationships with different people . Bittersweet and very memorable , I highly recommend it .

The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo by Amy Schumer . Review

This was a delightful book from the opening chapter where Amy has a deep and meaningful conversation to her vagina. Yes folks vagina . 

This is not a book to listen to on loud in public for those shy retiring types ,but to listen to while wearing earphones perhaps ...if you are comfortable with laughing in public so

much you begin snorting uproariously

. Amy is a breath of fresh air , it is easy to see why her career has been so successful ,she has great work ethic, a good sense of humour , she is a good friend and loyal person while taking no crap from those who would try and disrespect her. There is a lot to like about this lady , we need more women like Amy!

The book covers topics such as family, friendship , learning her trade , the ups and downs , tears and feminism. Not forgetting dating, sex, food and heartbreak. 

I respect Amy even more after listening to her narrate her story( I highly recommend this way of enjoying the book) . There were times I laughed with the story and other times I had a lump in the back of my throat as I listened to tough times in her life. She has incredible strength and it seems to shine through even more at the tougher times of her life . What a tremendous woman she is ! All hail Amy! :0)
