What Remains Of Me by A.L. Gaylin . Review

This is the story about a woman called Kelly who is at the centre of two crimes , one in the past and one in present day . If you were a fan of "The Girl On The Train " I think you might really like this story where you are never quite sure how reliable the characters are and especially the main character Kelly. 

It took a little while to get into the hang of switching between the two crimes and decades ,  but once I did it was very enjoyable. It's a subtle crime story that suddenly gives you the answers that leave you stunned . I really enjoyed the mystery , I had not guessed the reason behind the murders but it was SO good! 

This was a very satisfying story! Secrets and lies galore!

This is the time of year that I always read more as the weather tends to be a little grim and nothing becomes nicer then a hot drink and a good book while cuddled into a soft blanket. Very Hygge! The Little Book Of Hygge by Meik Weiking. Review

I knew as soon as I saw this book that I was going to love it, I just did not realise how much. 

From the stunning outside cover to the interior , jam packed with gorgeous images as well as recipes and tips this felt more then just a book but a way of life. Ok , it is the Danish way of life , but it is something that anyone could gain something from . It has handy tips to keep your sanity and enjoy simple pleasures in a world quickly changing. It shows you how to wind down , calm down and enjoy a life with good food , friends , comfort and cosines that costs very little . Being Hygglig is a very comforting feeling , I can't say this enough, it evokes calm and serenity and the Danish people have perfected this and use it on a daily basis . From soft lighting , non materialistic enjoyments, good food , think hibernation . We Irish are known for getting our fair share of bad weather like the Danish people so we could gain a lot of mental well being by putting into practise a lot of their habits esp when a lot of us get very down in the darker wetter months of the year when it sometimes feel like the lighter hotter days are never to come back to us. So friends, I recommend this book to you all, make a cosy hot drink , get warm in front of the fire and sit down and read this book . To well worth every second you spend reading it. 

This book is now on my favourites shelf . ( I read it three times so far) 

This would also make a wonderful gift for someone.

Reading This Week

Journey To Munich by Jacqueline Winspear. I love this series so much . If you have not read any books in the series  I recommend reading them in order . 

11.22.63 by Stephen King. I just finished Doctor Sleep and it got me excited for Stephen King yet again. 

Still reading Outlander by Diana Gabaldon . I am taking my time until book two gets to me . 

A Death In The Dales by Frances Brody . Review

Do you like a cozy mystery? If the answer is yes then read on. 

After having a lot of stress recently ,part time detective Kate Shackelton takes her niece with her to the Dales to recover from an illness in the healthy fresh air of the countryside  . Of course it's not long before Kate finds herself  in the thick of another mystery that had at first seemed long since buried . When Kate is around secrets and lies have a habit or rearing their ugly heats and she is just the woman to poke around and find out more about them , and this time she has help! 

What started out as a relaxing holiday for her and her niece becomes the exact opposite  very quickly and if she does not help the locals she will never get to enjoy her stay here at all.

 In this book Kate seemed a little more world weary then previous books but she still retained that gumption and sense of adventure and justice that I admire in her character . I have a feeling it's going to rub off on her niece :0) .

The story was enjoyable , the twists and turns unexpected and the relationship between Kate and her niece was enjoyable to read about  ( think future Nancy Drew) . 

I recommend this to all fans of mysteries or especially cozy mysteries with strong female leads .
