Dispatching Baudelaire by Ken Bruen. Review

I knew nothing about this book when I picked it up , but this novella was a gritty little gem well worth picking up. A sensible accountant going  about his sensible life one day meets a woman in a bar and his life quickly and drastically alters ... It's hard to really tell if it was for better or worse but it sure did make this a fantastic read and gave his life the jump start it severely needed . In here was a bunch of characters that would be priceless to meet in real life! Go read this straight away! I am off now to see if I can find more books by this writer ! 

Sunday Afternoon

Hi guys! Hope you are all well. It's a rainy day here today and the thoughts of venturing outside are about as appealing as housework right now. This is definitely a day for books and tea and below are a few of the books I have been dipping into today. They are all really good! 

The Girl On The train by Paula Hawkins. Reading and loving!!!!

That girl From Nowhere by Dorothy Koomson. Just starting this but I am loving this authors writing style. 

Dispatching Baudelaire by Ken Bruen  . I don't know much about this book but the  cover really intrigued me when I was at the library this week . I had to pick it up!

I love this series by Patricia Cornwell , I am so excited to read this!!!!!

Valentine Mum

I started a tradition a few years ago where on Valentines day I would start showing some love to the one person who has loved me the longest..yep..my mum. 

I got this card made by a wonderful woman in Co. Donegal . If you ever need a card that is a little bit extra special then look no further then this lady who is more then happy to help in any way that she can.

The Art Of Waiting by Christopher Jory . Review

I don't read too many books  about war but there was something about the discription of this book that really interested me just from the synopsis. Now that I have finished it I am so glad I read it, this is not just a book about war and the devastation that comes from that but it also about family, betrayal, love ,honour and survival. My favourite characters were Aldo for his strength, Isabella for her kindness and gumption and and Katerina for her bolshiness . Reading about someone's mindset while being in the midst of fighting was interesting and at times sad but the story is filled with hope . I recommend this book for those who like a story with a big twist .

Flesh and Blood by Simon Cheshire. Review

This is the story about a young boy called Sam . He has just moved to a new home in a rich neighbourhood with his family and very quickly comes across a sinister gory crime scene on the way to his first day at a new school . This does not bode well!  The story just gets creepier from here on out and I loved it! It becomes very hard to judge who to trust as the story goes on so you are constantly on edge .The author does not shy away from discriptive crime scenes so maybe don't read this late at night or right after your dinner. I recommend this to you if you enjoy a creepy book that will have you up until the early hours reading books that are even more sinister then they first appear . Fantastic book! Part of a brilliant series by Red Eye.

The Assassination Of Margaret Thatcher by Hilary Mantel. Review

This was the first book that I ever read by this author and I was really impressed by this collection of ten short stories that cover all manner of subject and personality. My personal favourite stories were 

Comma , The long QT, Harley Street, Winter Break etc , honestly I enjoyed most of them and I don't read short stories very often. I think if you wanted to find out if this author would be someone you would enjoy reading then this would be an excellent book to read first. A unique and beautiful writer . 

Anne Of Green Gables by L. M . Montgomery . Review

This is the story about a brother and sister called Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert. They live on a farm called Green Gables and now that Matthew is getting a little older they wanted to give an orphan boy a home in the hope that he might be able to help Matthew on the farm. Through a minor misunderstanding they end up with a red haired dreamer in the form of Anne Shirley ,the main character of the story and the character with the most personality that I have probably ever come across in any book. Anne is definitely a dreamer but she is wiser then her years and the good times in life she finds wonderous and the sad times bring her to the deepest depths of despair making her life a constant roller coaster of emotions that are both hilarious and touching. Green gables , the once quiet country homestead of this brother and sister is instantly changed and warmed with this little girls arrival and none of their lives would ever be the same again. 

I laughed and I sobbed with this book but the one thing I did straight away after finishing it was pick up the second book Anne of Avonlea as I could not wait to find out what was next in Anne's future. 

I recommend this to everyone who appreciates children's literature , inquisite children, reading about nosy neighbours, childhood ,family and friendship. Simply Beautiful !
