The Dolls by Kiki Sullivan . Review

This is a story about a young woman called Eveny Cheval who is moving back to her small home town of Carrefour in Louisiana after growing up in New York City with her aunt Bea. They moved away when Eveny was very young so she has a lot to catch up with when she moves back to this very private town with plenty of mystery surrounding it.  I loved the description of the town and the buildings , you get a real old timey feel for this part of Louisiana where modern technology feels like it barely exists. The history of the previous generations of families of the town are all still as important now as when the town was founded and the current residents are pretty much all relations of those people or those carefully chosen to live here amongst them but the town is divided between those well off and those less fortunate. There are handsome guys, mean girls and plenty of secrets and lies. Magic and charms, nature and evil surround this town and Eveny has no idea what she is coming back to. I loved this book and would recommend it to those of you who might have enjoyed Beautiful Creatures, the movie Mean Girls , or if you just love some great YA writing! This was awesome!Gorgeous setting!

New Books & New Harry Potter Editions

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins! I am seeing this everywhere! You can expect a review this week!

I thought you might like to see the new covers of the Harry Potter Editions I got with the last of my Christmas funds. I have taken pictures of the back and front cover as they are both were seeing. I have a couple more to collect but Valentines day is coming so who knows I might get lucky.

I loved the synopsis of this dark YA book , it sounded like something I would really enjoy.

This cover is what first attracted me to this book. I am a sucker for a cute cover! The title is pretty great too.

Reading This Week

Below are the books I hope to read this week. Some I have already started , others I am only beginning... Ahhhhh all the adventures I have ahead of me. :0)

Sunday Afternoon

Hi there lovelies , hope you are all well this Sunday. I woke up to a frosty day outside so of course it was on with my trainers and out for a walk . Trust me, there is nothing better then a walk on a crisp cold morning. Cute scarfs, gloves and warm jacket is essential if you don't want to turn your vital body parts a lovely shade of blue.

It was so peaceful out, some birds were chirping but for the most part all was very still, you can see the mist rise from the lake in the distance .

I am not a fan of spiders but this night time activity sure looked pretty when the morning sun was glinting on it..

A random tree, random ivy strands beginning it's journey over its branches, so pretty ! I could not resist a picture.

After a walk in the cold it was time for housework ... Yep, has to be done.. But after that there was pizza for dinner and then a bubble bath and skin nourishing oils . 

Then the best part of the day picking bedtime reading so below check out my night time reading for tonight.

I have read two books by this author in the past and loved them so I have high hopes for this book too. Landline by Rainbow Rowell

The Museum of Things Left Behind by Seni Glaister . Review

The setting of the story is a country called Vallerosa , it is beautiful and scenic and the description of the area is very inviting, it feel likes time has almost forgotten it. At the center of the story is the president of the country Sergio Scorpioni and a young woman called Elizabeth. Through a huge misunderstanding the entire story becomes based around these two people and the lives of almost everyone in this country is touched because of it. The history of the country and it's inhabitants is very interesting, past hurts and challenges , politics and love all come together to make this a gorgeous story filled with passion about a place that everyone who lives here loves. 

Read this if you want a feel good story that will have you smiling throughout. This is definitely an author I hope to be reading more from in the future .

Geared For The Grave by Duffy Brown. Review

I am a big fan of Duffy's writing and this is book 1 in her new Cycle Path Mystery series. This new series is set in Mackinav Island , a pretty and serene setting that is perfect for a cozy mystery .

The main character of this story is called Evie and she is a very likeable character and she really enjoys the slow pace on the island where automobiles are not allowed and bicycles are the main form of transport. The island is mostly a small quiet community until the summer season when the tourists flock in to enjoy the more laid back retro feel of the island .

Evie finds herself here to help her boss's dad Rudy run his shop because he has injured himself and he is going to need all the help he can get to get the shop ready before the tourists come . Evie is not long on the island when a series incident occurs worrying residents that the tourists will be put off coming here if they find out what has happened. Rudy may need Evie's help in more ways then anyone could have foreseen.

This was a great start to a new series and the description of the island was wonderful , that is almost always one of my favourite parts to a cozy mystery series's . There was a great supporting cast with Rudy feeling more like a father figure then Evie's friend , I had a soft spot for Irish Donna being Irish myself and Irma is a character you are routing for and want her to do well as she is after having a bit of a rubbish relationship . All in all this book had something for everyone , humour, mystery , fun and friendship . Loved it! I can't wait to get back to the island for book 2 in this series. 

Reading Upside down by Jo Platt . Review

This is a delightful tale about a woman called Ros who at thirty literally gets stood up at the aisle , and we get to meet her during the aftermath when she is up her eyeballs in depression and she is struggling while her friends and family are trying to support her but she is unwilling and as stubborn as can be. 

Change is needed and a big change it is when she moves home and starts a new life somewhere scenic where she is comforted in a new job surrounded by books and some awesome people . Read this if you want a story filled with love , hope , healing,payback, truly great supporting characters and a satisfying ending. It was a pure delight with some real laugh out loud moments.  I would definitely read more by this author in future.
