Best Book Bits of 2013

 Between the lines was just so awesome. A book that created the idea the characters in books have lives of their own when we are not reading them . Awesome!!!!!!

Mr Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan. This was so wonderful that I cannot keep from raving about it to everyone. Great characters and great setting. I loved everything about this book and have it on all my devices and in audio. Love it!!

 The secret garden. A Beautiful story and this edition is stunning by Penguin.

 I had no idea how much I was going to fall for this author's writing style. Thee old emotions hit me hard when I was reading this.I would urge you to read with a box of tissues in case you end up blubbering away like a baby like I did . I was emotionally connected to this story , some of the characters I worried so much about that I had to stay up just so I would know what the outcome would be.. Needless to say I adored it and will be reading everything this author writes from now on.

 This is visually stunning. The sweet story told in words and pictures is adorable and I like to face it outwards on my book shelf so others can see how gorgeous it is. It is a short story that you will finish in no time and is a book to cherish.

 As soon as I heard the description of this book. A Vampire Librarian........ How could I resist!!! Love it

 This is wonderfully entertaining and moreish. Morgue Mama is a cranky sod with a heart of gold and a wicked sense of humour.

 Love love love!!

 This cover looked wonderfully retro. Mr King is so wonderful at writing that I am never disappointed .This book was great! I could not put this down. I loved the main character! That is all!

 J K Rowling gave us all a great boost in the form of this new mystery series . This was a great start to a series.

 Pride and Prejudice...Ohhhhhh I will be gushing about this for years. This earned its place on my favourites shelf.

 Sweet, cute , get it!

 Loved this sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!! Do yourself a favour and order this from your library or buy it for a treat. It's really special xxx

 Another gem! A series I fell head over heels for during my love of all things Jane phase that I am still kind of going through.

 You guys know I love Sue Grafton! This book was soooooo good , Sue never disappoints! Sadly we are getting near the end now....How will it all end I wonder!!!!I am hoping all my favourite characters will live so after the series is over I can still imagine them carrying on with their make believe lives doing what they do best...

 A lovely Christmas book. This Christmas is over but you may want to add this to your book list for to read next December.

 Mad About You by Sinead Moriarty.Wonderful book that will give shivers up the spine of any married woman.

 A Night on the Orient Express. I am a fan of Veronica Henry anyway and this was just as awesome as I was expecting it to be.

 This was sooooo good. I won it on Goodreads and then last week went on to buy the next book in the series. Department 19 was awesome and for fans of Bram Stoker you may want to check this book out!

The Spooks Revenge was the last book in this series by Joseph Delaney and if you want a young adult series to begin then I would say start with book one and enjoy all 13 books this series has to offer. You will not be disappointed.

The Next Book Batch

 January is always a month that I use to jump start my Goodreads Challenge for every year. As I mentioned in a previous post I am aiming to read over 180 books this year. Last  year I read over 266 books but this year I wanted to put less pressure on myself while still giving myself a challenge. So, above you will see 6 books that I meant to get to in 2013 and that I hope to finish this January.

Books I Am Finishing Up

With a new year comes new books. In order to let myself read the new books the books that I have yet to finish must be read first. So , that being said, below are some of the last few books I have to finish up.

 

 

 

 

This book I actually started last night and if I had known it was as good as it is I would have left reading it until the other books were read as I am finding it very hard to leave. I expect this will be one of the first books finished first. You can expect a review on this book real soon!

 Listening to this audio is truly fantastic. Neil is narrating and it's almost a shame it has to end. There are so amazing characters in this story!!!!!!!!! One in particular will chill you to your core.

 Ahhhh this is lovely and sad and touching.. All the emotions are just coming at you during the reading of this!

This is a real "Keep you on your toes" book.

Loving and trying to make last... Will hurry it up now seeing as I have the second book. Yay!!!!

Dust by Patricia Cornwell.Review.

Dust is book 21 in the Kay Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell. I really love this series and I am always thrilled when a new book is coming out. When I finally got this book I was not disappointed!
Kay is back and is feeling a little under the weather when she is called in to an unusual case. Here begins one of the awesome journeys we take when we read a book by this author. Reading about Kay's way of finding out how the victims die in this series is always awesome! She explains science in a way that I can almost understand some of the time. The dead really come alive in this series of books! No one can explain how the dead talk quite like Patricia Cornwell. The plot in this book is terrific! In it there are a number of deaths and they have become real head scratchers for the police as the killer is smart and cunning and fearless by the looks of it. This book really keeps you on your toes, and the momentum never slows for a second, it is very hard to put down once you start.
If you are a fan of the series already then I think you will enjoy this and if you are not then definitely check it out. Patricia has created great characters in this series and they are certainly worth getting to know. If you start on book 1 be prepared!! ..you are going to want to know a lot more about this series and these awesome characters like Lucy, Kay, Benton, Marino. I have been following this series for over 15 years and I love it so much! Patricia Cornwell you rock!!!!!!!!

The Spook's Revenge by Joseph Delaney.Review.

The above book is book 13 in "The Last Apprentice/Wardstone Chronicles series "by Joseph Delaney and what an ending we got!
I have more reason then most to be thrilled about this as a comment I had made on the  facebook page about the series has been published in this awesome book!! I had no idea until I was reading the end of the book...... there I was feeling great about how the series ended when I saw my name and my comment . I was jumping up and down with much laughing and excitement ... I was not one bit cool right then......I will put a picture of the comment at the bottom of this post!

I was so worried about how the series was going to end. I had a feeling that not all of my favourite characters were going to make it and so there were few surprises in that regard , but there was huge surprises through out the book and characters that had not been at the forefront before became really important and made the last book soooooo interesting. I was intrigued about if the Fiend  was going to cause mass destruction and finish the series in a blaze off glory...... The ending was really really cool and satisfying , I was very happy with it. Loose ends were mostly tied up and it really felt like Tom was no longer a boy, it really felt like he grew so much through this series and each adventure brought him closer to being the Spook that he always  hoped to be if he survived all that was to face him.
I have followed these characters though many an adventure through their county and further afield. This book and this series was sooooo good that I urge others to read this.
The series started with a young lad called Tom Ward, he was  the 7th son of a 7th son who was given to the county to help rid it off darkness. There was all manner of darkness that needed to be wiped out in the county and the person that currently was doing it was Old Gregory but he would not be able to do the job forever as he was getting old, so he had to train up the next person who would take over and that was young Tom.. A bond was quickly formed with young Tom and the  County Spook when Tom goes to live with Old Gregory in the Spooks little house in Chipenden . Here he was to learn how to be a Spook.
In this last book  when I carried on reading to the end to find out what the next book that Joseph Delaney was going to be publishing I was soooo excited!!!!! I am not going to spoil it on you by telling you if you have not read the end of the book, but for those of you who have read it you will understand when I say yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 My comment that I found at the end of this the last book. I was so excited!!What a perfect ending!!!!
