Climbing The Stairs by Margaret Powell

This is the follow up book to Below Stairs by Margaret Powell. I have not read the first book yet but this book turned out to be a lot more comical then I expected it to be. Margaret is a wonderful Narrator who is not shy in telling you about her life and marriage amongst other things. Margaret is very witty and I  imagine it would have been fun knowing her in real life , her thoughts on marriage, dating, work, work mates, contraception etc are interesting and she tells you about each topic with good natured humour and it feels more like listening to a dear friend then reading about a stranger. After reading this I can't wait to read Below Stairs. This was a non fiction book that I do recommend to anyone interested in working class life in the early 1900's .

Running Towards Love by Marisa Adams

Running Towards Love by Marisa Adams is the touching story of a marriage and all the ups and downs that go with that. Marisa always tells a heartfelt story with characters that are easy to empathise with. In this story the main character overhears something upsetting and so leaves her husband and goes to stay at a friends home where she can clear her head. Friendship and the benefits of talking to those we are closest too are important and in this story we see what  good can come from these things.  It is the perfect short story to dive into, with a very satisfying ending! Wonderful!

Icy Temps And Red Hot Books For The Next 7 Days

Okay.. it's colder then the freezer section round the local shop but it is still a fine time to crack open a book and try and not break a spine.
Every single time I pick books I want to read lately something has happened to prevent it so below is a list of books that are going to get read if the dog does not run off, my cat does not get the neighbours cat pregnant, if arctic air stops and enables me to physically move from  page to page while not needing to be under three quilts while kicking the heating up to full blast . Anyway...rant over!
