The Bookshop

When the world is looking grey outside and your feeling a little down in the mouth, it may be time to visit this store.
When I walk in there is soft music playing in the background .Nobody speaks above a high whisper and you are left alone to wander to your hearts content.
The store is long rather then wide.
On the left as you walk in the door there is pretty cards,wrapping paper, bookmarks and various other bits and bobs. On the right hand side there is the new releases. Here I linger quite a while. It can be a blessing being 5"2 here as the taller people still can see above my head while we politely shuffle from side to side so everyone gets a view of the lower shelfs.
All the right hand side of the store is books, every genre and mixed hardbacks and paperbacks.
After checking out the new releases I check out the books on sale then wander down to the fiction section. This is where I have found some real gems in the past.
At this point I normally have a few books stacked up in my arms and there is always someone that comes over and offers to take them to the till for me... phewww.. arms free for more browsing.

Towards the back of the store I save the ya/childrens section for last as it the area that impresses me most.. It is almost like a den here. You will find the most beautiful illustrated books here alongside classic childrens books.I can only imagine what it is like to be a child coming down here and being allowed to pick a book. The choice between wizards and bad guys, zombies and  yellow brick roads, is so mind boggling that it would have taken me forever as a child to pick just one.

So after I pay for my purchases and leave the haven that is one of my very favourite book stores with my arms pulled down with the weight of my bags I go to my favourite restaurant/tea shop with who ever decided to share my shopping spree, and over icy cold drinks we discuss all the books as we wait for our food to arrive......

This Week I am Reading ........

This week the books on my TBR list are as follows...

Divergent by Veronica Roth.. I am probably one of the last book bloggers reading this but what can I say...Anyways.. this is a dystopian book that sounds similar to The Hunger Games trilogy.. Cannot wait to read this one !!!

The next book was .....The book about the Gilmore Girls tv show. Jess arrives in this book. He is notorious nephew of Luke from Luke's Diner. Rory's mum joins the Puffs.. It looks like it will be a fun read.

If I manage to finish reading those two then I am rereading......
Letter From New York by Helene Hanff. A wonderful non fiction book by my favourite authur.

I am also listening to Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. This is a great book That I have previosly read so it makes a nice change to hear the story being read. Meggie is the main character in this book about a book called inkheart . When Meggie's father reads the book it comes alive with alarming results.. It is a great book about books..It is book one in a three book series.

The Lollipop shoes by Joanne Harris the follow on book from Chocolat.. This is the second book in the Chocolat series.

In My Mailbox

I had four books that arrived this week.. lots of jumping up and down when I saw the postman :0) I was especially pleased as I got all these at bargain prices. Gilmore books only £0.01 on amazon plus postage . Who's Afraid Of Mr Wolfe was under 4 Euro. So ..some great bargains there.

Our main character Ellie gets a new boss (who happens to be very heathcliffishhh).
He wants Ellie to smarten herself up a bit so while being both peeved and attracted to this guy
she begins to get to know him.Is this a good thing, who knows but it looks like it will be a fun read.

I do Don't I? Based on the Gilmore Girls tv show..I was a fan of the tv show  and the books are a nice addition to have for any Gilmore fans.
The books are almost exactly the same as the tv show so you are not going to learn a whole lot extra from them but they are still enjoyable. In this book Lorelai is engaged to Max Medina who happens to be Rory's teacher.

Like Mother Like Daughter. Another book based on the Gilmore Girls tv show.       In this book Rory begins Chilton and leaves her old school in Stars Hollow. This book like the tv series and the other books are filled with witty one liners and references to famous people alive and dead.

The Other Side Of Summer. Bason on the Gilmore Girls Tv show.This is just a fun, smart, witty series be it in book or television format.. Well worth a read. In this book the notorious Jess arrives and Loralai joins the Puffs.Jess is a fun character to read about.. the typical bad guy type who just happens to love reading too...

The Best Bad Guys In Books

Voldermort-Harry Potter-J K Rowling.. Well this guy just did not know when to call it a day.. Dude.. get over yourself.. Your dark Lord days are over.. Time to move over and let Mr/ Potter and the wee weasley lads take a break without the constant threat of you turning up.. Stalk much !!!

Norman Bates-Psycho-This dude had a very unhealthy mother/son relationship.If your mother dies Norman...bury her.. do not keep her in your house talking to her daily as she stinks up the living room.......blahhhhh

Jack Torrence- The Shining- Stephen King.... OK.. You are sharing a huge  hotel in the middle of nowhere in the worst weather imaginable and this crazy assed dude is on the hunt for you and your child...scared much ... OOOOOOhhh YEAH!!!!!You may need to get the big axe and run as fast as your little legs can carry you..

Guy Woodhouse-Rosemary's Baby-Ira Levin...If your husband is will willing to lend you out to the local occult members in your building for to make you pregant while you are unconsious then you may want to get a good solicitor and get yourself a divorce.....

Joe St George- Dolores Claiborne-Stephen King.... Bad husband, Bad Father.Thief need I go on.. No wonder he ended up where he did.That was one eclipse he will not forget.. Stephen King sure knows how to write a bad guy..
