Jeeze I loved this book. This was my first Hard Case Crime book , but it won't be my last!
What ever scene Stephen King is setting it really comes alive! I swear I could smell the popcorn and sea air ,hear the noise of the rides , the squeals of the children and see the gulls fly overhead.
Joyland is a story about a young man who has recently fallen on hard times in regards to his love life. Having decided to shake up his life and do something completely different he finds himself in a new town and a new job at Joyland. Joyland is a park like a smaller version of Disneyland and it has a history and some of those who work there believe it is haunted by a previous visitor to the park who had a tragic experience there.
The story from the beginning is just sooooo good. The main character Devin Jones is a hard working , loyal, sweet guy who is very likeable and trustworthy and great to have around in an emergency. As the story goes on we get to know more about his past and it only makes you like him even more. His dad is equally lovely but we don't get to see as much of his character.
The story is not terrifying in a jump out of your seat type of way. It is more subtle then that.. it will creep up silently making you feel uneasy , a little uncomfortable and a little relieved that you are reading it from your armchair/under duvet/ bubble bath. This story had everything I wanted in a book and left me with a lump in my throat.
Brilliant!

A Tap On The Window by Linwood Barclay. Review.
This is one of those stories that grabs you and shakes you about until it has your full attention from the opening page. From the beginning to the end the story really gripped me . The main character Cal Weaver is a PI and when going about his own business one night comes across a girl in the rain. This begins a series of events that really shake him up ,with plenty of action, bad guys, mystery and suspense. Cal's family life comes into the story a lot and it is really touching , we get to see what makes him tick as a man and as a PI. The story at no point wains , the characters are interesting and very intriguing making them very hard to leave. I was a fan of Linwood Barclay before reading this and this has just confirmed it again. This is a book to keep you up late at night.
This book is going to be published in October 2013 .
You will be able to get it on lovereading.co.uk and other good bookstores then.

An Awesome Cosy Read.Marie Green Rocks!
I love finding more cosy author's!!
The first thing that attracted me to this book was the title, the second thing was the cover. I had never heard of the author Marie Green before I picked up this book , but after reading it I will be crossing my fingers that another book by this writer will be published soon. The story is about a group of women who work at the library, these women are people you would love to have as friends , witty , nice ordinary women. Their personality's are really clear making it very easy to picture each one of them in your head . The story was very believable and the different elements to the story families, spirits, friendship, mystery to name but a few made it very moreish esp all the mentions of the food the characters kept nibbling.
As soon as I finished the story I was straight on Goodreads to see if this author had written anything else , so far I can't find anything but as I said at the beginning I hope there will be another book out soon carrying on from this book.
It was wonderful spending time with these characters, together they make a great story!

Berried To The Hilt by Karen MacInerney .Review.
I have said this once but I am going to say it again. This series just gets better and better with each book I read. The main character of this series is Inn owner Natalie Barnes and she is one of the residents of Cranberry Island. The island is not large so residents all know each other well in this close knit community. I love the new and old characters in this series soooo much, they are very likeable !!! Natalie is my favourite character, rapidly followed by Charlene . I love a nice setting to a cosy series and this does not disappoint , I mean a quaint inn on a pretty island, I mean come on!!!! Fabulous! In this book, book 4, an old ship has been found and it is up to archaeologists with experience of bringing up objects from the sea bed to find out just what ship it could be... trouble is they have some competition....
This was such an awesome story that had me gripped from the beginning. I try to drag out reading each book in the series to make them last as I find them relaxing and just perfectly cosy but I end up flying through them in a bid to find out who the bad guys are. This was another gem that I will definitely be re-reading. Karen never fails in writing a book that is hard to put down and characters that are hard to forget. Not that you need another plus to read this wonderful series but at the end of each book you will find delicious recipes.
If you would like to know more about this book and others in this series then check out this wonderful author on her website in the link below.
